I plan of changing my HD soon. If I use a utility like "Ghost" or
Maxtor copy utility to copy the entire drive, will I need to
"reactivate" my XP??
Thanks, Bonnie
The volume-serial number of the hard drive is one of the items
monitored by product activation and if you have made other hardware
changes since the last activation then it is possible that the hard
drive change could be the additional component change needed to
trigger the requirement to reactivate.
But if your hardware is unchanged except for the hard drive then
activation should not be a concern. And even if it does ask you to
reactivate it should do so automatically over the Internet.
