Activation Corrupt

When the computer boots up it gets to a screen saying that XP needs to be
activated. You click the 'yes' button to do the activation and a dialog box
pops up saying it has already been activated. The only option is an 'ok'
button. After clicking the 'ok' button XP logs you off back to the welcome
screen. Its just goes round in this neverending circle.

Anyone seen this before or knows off a fix that doesnt require reloading the
OS? I can get into the desktop via 'safemode' and it is a legitimate version
(OEM).

Possible Resolution:

Boot into Safe Mode.

Then go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter again.

Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered.
