My daughter has just got xp pro & is receiving messages
when booting,"windows needs to be activated with MS".When
clicking "yes" to activate, the message comes up "windows
is already activated",& when clicking "ok" to cancel as
prompted a welcome screen with "admin" appears with
message to change/add a/cs go to control panel------etc.
However she is unable to do that or go any further
because there are no icons (start eg),or taskbar on the
screen.
Any advice or info appreciated

Try repairing the registry entries for the activation .DLL files.

Use Start- Run and enter the following text in the dialog box:
regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

Then do it again with the following text:
regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

Good luck

(The reply............)

I don't think his daughter will be able to go down that path as he said she
hasn't even got the start menu or task bar options.

boot up keep pressing F8 and go into safe mode then do as instructed.

Thanks, guys, tried your suggestions but no luck. She has
contacted the supplier who say they know of the problem &
will fix the "bug" when she takes her pc in to them.
