Activating Windows XP

Hello, I have a computer that had Windows XP on it
already and I reformatted. My friend came over with his
Windows XP Home CD to reformat for me. I was unaware
that my Product Key was on the side of my computer. I
tried to activate my computer and it says invalid because
it needs my friend's key to activate, not mine. He is
using it though...what should I do?

Reinstall properly, using your OEM CD and your OEM Product Key.

you also may be able to change the CD key number in the
activation dialouge box....
