Keith

I recently have been having troubles with my computer,
which operates on Windows XP Home. If I need to reinstall
the OS from the same CD (full version) I used before, with
the same key code, will Microsoft see my activation as
illegal, and lock up my computer? If so, will I ever be
able to use the same key code to activate the OS on the
same computer?

Thanks

Everything you need to know is in the following article:

If you're reinstalling on the same machine, just use the
same product key, and activate just like you did before.
If you get an error activating online, follow the
directions to call the toll free number.

There's no limit to the number of times you can reinstall and
activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. If it's been more
than 120 days since you last activated that specific Product Key,
you'll most likely be able to activate via the Internet without
problem. If it's been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone
call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

if you have some harware issues or you have added a new
hardware you need to activate windows again do the
following
c:\windows\system32\wba.dbl rename to wba.noact
no install new stuff or solve the problem and reactivate
again.

Can someone please tell me if back dating the system date will have any
impact on WPA?

We have a requirement of changing system date and times of test machines
(for testing our software).

thanks,
