Activating new Windows Product

I recently purchased a Geniune copy of Windows XP Pro. I did this through the
Microsoft website. I have backed up and loaded this new copy. When it comes
to my account log in page, it won't let me log in until I activate. No
instructions given how to do this. Please help!! I just want my computer
back.
 
I'd recommend calling 1-866-pcsafety if you are in the U.S. or Canada.
Elsewhere, call your local Microsoft subsidiary, or the number for paid
support in your locale.

How to activate Windows XP by phone
To contact a Microsoft customer service representative to activate Windows
by phone, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point
to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Activate Windows.

Or, click the Windows Activation icon in the notification area.
2. Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative
to active Windows now.
3. Click Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement, click
Back, and then click Next.
4. Follow the steps in the Activate Windows by phone dialog box, and
then click Next.

Note The number appears now and differs based on the location that
you select.
5. When activation is completed and you receive the following
message, click OK.
You have successfully activated your copy of Windows.

Thanks for replying back. My dilema is I can't get to my start menu because
I can't log in. If I go into safe mode, then start menu, activate windows, it
tells me I can't do this in safe mode. I really appreciate any advice you
have to give.
 
Once you install, you should have 30 days to activate before they force
activation. There is a support phone number for XP Pro that you might try:

included at no charge. Unlimited installation support is available by phone
