Hi everyone,

I just bought a new computer with Windows XP Home Edition. At no time
during the setup or installation was I ever asked to "activate" it like I've
heard about. Any ideas why? Is there a way I can do it manually? Thanks.

Most computers that come with XP do not require activation. The version of
XP installed by the manufacturer is locked to that machine, usually tied to
the BIOS.

Click Start, Run and enter: %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A

To run the Activation wizard. It will tell you if you need to activate or
not.
