Activate with Microsodt???

Hi, After loading software for my scanner and restarting,
Windows won't fully start. I recieve the following error
message:

"A problem has prevented Windows from accurately checking
the status of the license for this computer. To proceed
your copy of windows must be activated with Microsoft. Do
you want to continue?"

Then I click yes, the wallpaper loads, then about 10
minutes later it tries to signoff user.

Although the title of this article mentions Dell computers, it goes on to
explain that it can happen on non-Dell systems as well:
