Hi,

I have McAfee Security Centre installed in my machine.

I was watching the security centre and noticed that if takes about
1.5mins for the firewall and malware protection options to go from red
to green.

Is this the normal time delay? I get no security alert warnings.

I have noticed that things are sometimes a bit slow on my machine.

Thanks

Just two of the many benefits of running McAfee security products.

Regardless of how much time you have before your McAfee subscription turns
turtle, do yourself a favour by uninstalling anything McAfee from your
computer.

Then fill the gap left by the sudden disappearance of McAfee with the
following..

Avira or Avast anti-virus solution..

www.avira.com www.avast.com

Malwarebytes antispyware solution.. to be run as part of your regular
housekeeping..

www.malwarebytes.org

WinPatrol.. This utility will warn if something is trying to sneak into
startup without you knowing. It will also allow you to manage startup items
much better than you can with MSCONFIG..

www.winpatrol.com

Netmeter 1.13.. This utility gives totals for network traffic in and out. It
will also make you aware of any in/out traffic not necessarily instigated by
yourself...

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Bandwidth-Tools/NetMeter.shtml

If you run the Vista sidebar, there is a similar utility available, but it
does not log running totals for internet traffic..

Hi,

I have McAfee Security Centre installed in my machine.

McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool 2.0.155.1
"...Will remove all 2005, 2006, and 2007 versions of McAfee consumer
products."
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/McAfee-Consumer-Product-Removal-Tool.shtml

Then re-activate the build-in firewall.
I was watching the security centre and noticed that if takes about
1.5mins for the firewall and malware protection options to go from red
to green.

McAfee and Norton drain all the resources from your os.
Is this the normal time delay? I get no security alert warnings.
No.

I have noticed that things are sometimes a bit slow on my machine.

Clear the (IE) temporary Internet files and the history cache.
Click Start==>Run... then type (or copy/paste) "inetcpl.cpl" (w/out
quotation marks) into the box, then click the 'OK' button.
In Internet Properties panel 'General' tab, under 'Browsing history', click
'Delete...'button, in 'Delete Browsing History' panel, click the 'Delete
all...'button then place a checkmark into the box beside 'Also delete files
and settings stored by add-ons', Click 'Yes' and exit the Internet
Properties panel by clicking the 'OK' button.
