Activate the networkcard when offline

Please help me to activate the networking card when I am
working offline.
I am working in WinXP Home and it works OK in the LAN,
but I need to read the MAC-id when I am offline !!

If you mean you have some software that needs to automatically read the MAC,
and it fails when you are not connected to the LAN ...

One way to achieve this is to wire up a RJ45 plug as a loop back connector,
then if you plug that in to your laptop where the LAN normally plugs in, it
will allow the MAC to be read correctly.

Others may post software solutions, but if you want to use this simple
hardware solution, you can make a loopback connector by wiring pin 1 to pin
3, and pin 2 to pin 6.
