action settings or hyperlinks

Any thoughts on this issue?

I was wondering what the difference is between using a hyperlink to set a
jump to a certain slide number, as opposed to using an action setting to do
the same.

Do action settings add macro use? Are hyperlinks cleaner and slimmer?

Thanks!

the first time...)

I think it's really about the same. A hyperlink is a type of action setting.
If you go to the Action Setting dialog, you'll see Hyperlink as one of the
options. An action setting can also be performed on a mouse over, not just
on a mouse click, so if you need to hyperlink to something by mousing over
it, you'd choose Action Settings to get there.

One thing...the Hyperlink setting lets you easily get to specific slides
within a separate presentation. I think that's harder to do from the Action
Settings dialog.

To add slightly to what Echo said, if you're hyperlinking to a specific
slide in the same presentation, there is not much difference. But if you
are doing any other hyperlinking, there are a few minor variations, like
what Echo said and also Action Settings allow for hyperlinking to "End
Show" and "Last Slide Viewed" which regular hyperlinks don't.

Oh, good point(s). I hadn't thought about those. (Really, I was just taking
a stab in the dark. I've never had to actually explain the difference
between the two. It's a good question.)
