I use AVG. For months, it has detected 3 viruses which it cannot
heal. They are in the directory C:\WINDOWS\Application
Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar.

The file names are:

a.jar-22be6520-2ce07fb8.zip
a.jar-22be6520-2ce07fb8.zip:\a.class
a.jar-22be6520-2ce07fb8.zip:\VerifierBug.class

Can I just delete these files without harming my computer's
performance?

If you are using any version of Sun Java that is prior to JRE Version 5.0,
then you are strongly urged to remove any/all versions that are prior to JRE
Version 5.0. There are vulnerabilities in them and they are actively being exploited.
It is possible that is how you got infected with malware.

Therefore, it is highly suggested that if there are any prior versions of Sun Java
to Version 5 on the PC that they be removed and Sun Java JRE Version 5.0 Update 6
be installed ASAP.

1) Dump the contents of your Sun Java cache -
Start --> settings --> control panel --> Java applet --> cache --> clear
or
Start --> settings --> control panel --> Java applet --> general --> settings -->
delete files

2) Re-scan your system using your anti virus software.
