ACT Database Errors resulting from Virus protection

My extensive ACT 2000 Database program will not open and
leaves the following message: act.exe has generated errors
and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart
the program."

I log out of the computer and return to the same problem.
What fix can I apply to eliminate this problem
 
I have exactly the same problem, and it appeared around the same time you
posted your message. WAY too big a coincidence...

I have Windows 2000 Professional with Norton Antivirus & ACT 6.0. Norton is
configured to automatically accept updates.

So far I've tried rebooting, reinstalling ACT, and uninstalling Norton. All
fail to make any difference. The "actdiag" utility tells me the database is
OK.

Any suggestions would be most gratefully received!
