Hi All,

I just purchased and installed Acronis True Image 7.0 and I created
two seperate backup images on 2 seperate hard drives. I then deleted
the image files (using Windows Explorer delte files command) on both
hard drives, and the files appeared to be deleted in Windows Explorer,
but my hard drive statistics are still showing that the amount of the
space the files took up is still being used- even though the files are
no longer shwoing up in Windows Explorer. This is happening on both
of my hard drives. Does anyone understand why this would happen and
how I can correct this problem?

I have sent an email to Acronis but they have not repsonded yet.

Thanks for your help.

Did you delete them permanently or did you just move them into the Recycle
Bin?

Michael and Al thanks for your replies.

When I originally deleted the files, the computer told me the files
were too big to fit in the recycle bin and did I want to permanently
delete them. To this I answered "yes".

My recycle bin is protected by "Norton Utilitles". I did go in an
emty the recycle bin but that did not reolve the problem. There is
another feature when I right click on the recylce bin to "empty Norton
protected files". When I click on this option it warns me that there
are 1,746 protected files on my C and D drives. Is it safe to go
ahead and empty these files? I don't want to permanently delete
anything that Acronis tech support might want me to try and recover to
solve the problem at a future time.

Thanks again for your help,
Brian

The Norton protected files probably ARE the problem. You should delete
them and then turn off Norton protection on any drive that is used
primarily to store backup images. Backup images usually are so large
that you can't afford to have them sitting around in the recycle bin.
When you delete a backup image or any other large file to create
needed space, you should permanently delete it. Do this by holding the
shift key while deleting.
