is it possible to package acrobat reader 6 for distribution via w2k
group policy .... not as standard install but with the speed up
amendments made so that most of the plug ins are in the optional
directory so that acrobat reader starts up quickly?

Jason-

Check out http://www.appdeploy.com/packages/detail.asp?id=171 for info on
deploying acrobat reader. As far as removing the plugins, you'll need to
remove those files via a transform. You should be able to do this with
Adobe's version of Installshield Tuner (might be called Acrobat Tuner?) on
adobe.com

thanks for this ....

ive downloaded and installed the installshield tuner for acrobat v6.01
only every time i try to do anything with the package for acrobat reader
6.01 msi it crashes, ive tried it on 2 seperate system, w2k sp4 and xp
pro sp2 and the same thing happens - both systems are usually solid and
reliable without issues so im thinking a bug in the software or its not
compatible with something running on my system?

im from UK, just changed to US and its now working fine. just need to

it looks like it will easily let me remove the plug ins from the plug
ins directory but not so sure how to add those removed files to the
optional directory instead .....?

they now have a basic download that's only ~7Mb or so, if I remember
correctly. once you extract the msi from that self extratractor, it's only
about 2.5Mb. that seems to run much faster then the previous standard
install did, and you don't have to mess with a mst...
