ACPI motherboard

Is there any consequence to telling an ACPI motherboard that it isn't?

The reason I'm interesting in this is to get that message when Windows shuts
down "It is now safe to turn off your PC" which ACPI motherboard's do not
display (as far as I could see).

Thanks,
Alain

XP will always revert the motherboard back to ACPI. It is part of the
'Plug and Play" feature of XP, whih should not be disabled since all
USB devices can be stopped from activating.
