Hi,
I have an ASUS A7N8X Delux mobo with running Windows 2000. I tried
installing a Dlink 530TX ethernet card(yes its dual lan, but wanted to
test the card). However when i removed the card, the machine doesnt
boot up - Windows tells me that the bios is not ACPI compliant.(The
machine was working perfectly before the card was installed).

In fact different errors
a)Sometimes it reaches the GUI, but then stops with the above ACPI
error
b)hang in the 'Starting Windows 2000' text message , which normally
takes 5 secs approx.

I tried installing from the Installation cd, to no avail.
I event tried KNOPPIX, but i got errors there too, and it refused to
run.

Tried switching of ACPI, but again no help.

Q: Does the PCI slot make a difference? i.e which one i put it
in.(Though its now removed)

I have searched google.groups for a solution, but none seem to work.
I know this question has been asked, but couldnt find an asnwer.

WOuld appreciate any help on this matter.
Thanks in advance

Not positive but it sounds like you may have damaged the motherboard
(static electricity or hairline crack) during the install/removal of the
NIC.

This sounds like an IRQ sharing issue, or similar. Easiest fix? Since
you're already going to reinstall your software, just reset the CMOS via the
jumper.

Hi,
Thanks for the help. I did reset the CMOS..., once again no help.
If it *is* a damage to the motherboard...., i'm heart broken - it cost
me quite a packet....

Anyways, thanks to all, for the help.
