ACM Codec for wav-files missing

Hello,

my computer is not able to play a certain type of wav-file since the
ACM-codec is missing (as, finally I found it, reported by contextmenu tag-id
of dbPowerAMP).
Recently I bought a Dell Inspiron 9300, installed WindowsXP Home, SP2 and
all further patches.
I installed Winamp, dbPowerAMP converter with Powerpack, Picaview's
contextmenuplayer, two ACM-mp3 codecs, the K-Lite Mega codecpack, the
SLD-codecpack, but nothing works. Windows Mediaplayer is not able to download
the proper codec either (and I checked the site myself and did not find
anything). Also I went to the configurationscreen, multimedia to check if all
installed codecs were switched 'on'. They were and are.

All of this to no avail. As far as I understood XP natively supports
wav-files, so why does this wav cause so much problems? Hopefully somebody
can help me out, because posting this problem to other sites did not bring me
any further as yet.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Byte,

thanks for your answer and tips. I tried Irfanview, but it turns out to be a
real native WinXP problem on a Dell-laptop. This installation apparently is
missing some codecs that should be natively installed.

Anybody else got an idea?

Regards, Wilhelm

Hi,

Installing Fruity Loops' patch for 5.01 did the trick. I was working with
5.00...

Thanks for your help,

Wilhelm
