ACHI-150 mobo problems

I am trying to ressurect an old PC which has the above mobo, a Cyrix
PR200(?) CPU, and 80M RAM. It runs Win95b but there is a problem when you
check sytem_properties>device_manager and then click on the 'other devices'
(yellow question mark). Here listed is the PCI bridge and a PCI USB. Both
say that the driver is not installed correctly. So, the question is, where
can I get these drivers from? (they're not on my Win95 CD, and I haven't got
a driver disk for the mobo).
I could live with this problem, except I'm trying to add a modem which won't
install. Maybe this is connected with the missing PCI brideg driver, maybe
not.
Any help would be appreciated.

Determine the make/model of motherboard, or rather, that info (or a visual
inspection) is to lead you to the motherboard chipset... so you can
download and install the chipset driver.

Then again, you dont' give us the history of this system, if you'd just
done a clean install or if it were delivered to you in this state or you
migrated an existing win95b install or... I'd go ahead and delete those
entries from device manager, after booting into safe mode, and all other
duplicate entries as well.

The modem probably does need a busmastering PCI slot, which the board
probably supports, but needs the driver. That driver
might be included in Win98, you might install win98 if you have a spare
license lying around... Win98 will run on 80MB mem, especially if you use
"98lite" modified win98 (Google search it if you're not familiar with
98lite).

Graeme ,

you need a patch for the chipset called setupex.exe . it is available
for download at .
ftp://download.intel.com/design/pcisets/busmastr/setupex.exe

you will need 95 2.1 with the usb support to enable usb . if not you
may need to disable the usb in device manager
hope this helps,
terry

It was a system that I 'borrowed' from work a few years ago, just as a test
PC running Hyperterm. It was delivered to me with Win95 on it, so I guess
whoever originally got it going didn't notice or care about the lack of PCI
(chipset) drivers.

I've removed all of the entries in dev manager for the PCI, and rebooted. It
still can't install the drivers for the chipset, but now the modem is
working.

The mobo is only marked ACHI-150. The chipset says Intel, but I'll have to
look further to see what numbers are on these devices.

If I can just get OE working, then it'll do for my mother. IE and dial-up
work ok.

Thanks for the feedback.

All the information I can get from the mobo is;

ACHI-150 (no other board markings on the top)
It has two Intel chips;

PCISet, FW82371AB (F7230041, SL23P) and FW82439TX (F7258638, SL28T).
4 ISA slots, 3 PCI (one shared). 2 serial, 1 parallel, 2 IDE, FDD.

I'll do some more digging (Googling) for relevant drivers, but if anyone
knows this chipset, I'd be glad to receive some pointers.

Your board was made by Achitec, Taiwan, which seems to be
defunct. Google produces several driver hits, however.

82371 is the southbridge, 82439TX is the northbridge, more commonly known
as the 430, TX chipset.

I could have missed one of the google references, but most of what I
searched for didn't produce anytihng useful. But thanks for the reply.
