Why A$$hole Puppkatt ?

I read this as someone who has tried to extract the links from
postings, then post it here - there was some discussion about this a
while back.

Mark, I'm just confused about your post because it doesn't contain what
your subject line refers to.

Categorised daily summaries of the links in alt.comp.freeware used to be
posted to urls.sytes.net's sw.url.summaries. I thought that there was
a problem either with the server I was downloading from, or the server
that I was uploading to. In the process of upgrading the scripts
involved in sorting the matter out, I introduced a bug, which meant that
blank postings were unintentionally sent to this newsgroup.

Starting from tonight, summaries of both alt.comp.freeware and
alr.comp.freeware.games will be posted to this site at around midnight
BST. Assuming that there are no bugs left in code - and I think that
there is a better than evens chance that it is bug-free - readers of
this group will be treated to a summary of what's been posted.

I intend to resume posting the summaries to urls.sytes.net just as soon
as I can sort out my arse from my elbow. This should be good, because it
means that sw.urls.summaries will provide a compact source of
information for people just interested in obtaining a source of links
for this newsgroup.

If people object to the summaries being posted on this newsgroup, then I
can easily refrain from posting them here in future. I think, though,
that it would be a good idea to post them because people might not
necessarily know or be prepared to set up an account at urls.sytes.net
(which is free, anyway).

Now that the scripts have been tidied up a bit, I can make them
available online so that people can summarise other newsgroups, if that
is what they wish. I haven't make the scripts available yet, because it
is still subject to some testing.

So, watch this space. Things should improve.

As long as the Subject headers are consistent, people who object can
just filter them.

Also, it will only be 2 posts per day, which is a mere drop in the ocean
of posts that get sent every day.

Mark, I look forward to those posts.

If you can, also post them to alt.comp.freeware.discussion.
