Whenever I press shift on the keyboard, I get a beep. I think this is the Acessability thing in the control panel, but you cannot remove Acessablility for some annoying reason. I tried the options to turn it off, but nothing works. How does one go about turning off the beeps without reinstalling XP?

Open Control Panel. Click on "Classic View" in the left hand column.
Double click Accessibility Options. On the Keyboard page, go through each
section and uncheck what you do not use. (You've probably already done this
part.)

Don't forget to click the Settings button in each section. A new screen
appears. Uncheck the box next to "Use shortcut." If you do not do this,
striking certain keys can reactivate the very features that you are trying
to turn off.
