hi
I am using Windows 2000 professional and i am logged in as
administrator when i open mmc and try to open the local security
policy it gives me error saying i donot have sufficent rights "ACESS
Denied".
when i try to open the grouppolicy folder in WINNT it gives me the
same error.
Is there any way i can get through it.

Please help it is urgent.

Hey Pawan,

Is the Windows 2000 Pro computer standalone or is it part of the domain?
It sounds like the latter. If that is the case, is the account you're
using also logged onto the domain or are you simply logged in as a local
administrator? Ideally, you want to try this as a domain user who is a
member of the local Administrator's group.

If all this is the case, then there may be some group policy in effect from
the domain or OU limiting access. If you have the Windows 2000 Support
Tools installed on the computer, try to run "gpedit /z" to see what
policies are being applied.

If you are trying to view the local policies, going into Gpedit.msc should
work under the above conditions unless there is a policy that limits access
or if the local Secedit.sdb is corrupt.
