I like to look at my jpg and avi files in Tv. To do that I usually
connect my laptop s-video port with a proper s-video cable to Tv
s-video port. When I switch on the Pc I see the Pc monitor black and
the initial splash screens of Windows Xp booting in Tv. That's all.
When Win Xp splash screen goes down and Win desktop comes up, both
screens go blank and I must Fn-F5 to regain monitor output into the
laptop. Any hint ?

The output from a graphics adapter via S-Video is VERY diff then
that to the in-built laptop screen. It is doubtful your laptop's graphic
adapter can accomadate both resolution settings together -
You have to chose one or the other, not expect both?
You supply no details and we are not gifted with telepathy

Try Here: http://www.svideo.com/displayvideo.html

Or try Acer for how to activate the S-video output on your
mysterious acer laptop.

Have you accidentally set the Primary Monitor to be the TV instead of the
notebook screen?

Many laptops have an "auto detect" function that assumes you will be using a
TV or projection unit if the SVideo/composite video output is connected to
an external cable or the external TV/Projector. Some laptops even accomplish
this as a BIOS function. When a TV or projector is detected on boot, the
laptop automatically changes to a compatable format. If the laptops screen
was set to a compatable resolution in windows before shutdown, the laptop's
display usually will display what is visible on the TV/Projector during and
after bootup..

Sorry for bad description. I'm trying to look at my avi and jpg files
in Tv. Only Tv not both Tv and Pc. I said it works correctly at
bootstrap but it does not when WinXpPro comes up. This means that HW
all is properly configured and working fine BUT when Windows takes
control it keeps this s-video output from working. I can't figure out
why I can only say that everything was working fine up to last time I
made the connection. What have I changed from this last time ? Well, I
upgraded Office 2000 to 2003 and Nero 6 to 7 Premium ... If this can
help ...
