Re: My Computer (XP Home)

I did something really stupid and I hope that you can offer some
suggestions. Last week, I accidentally (don't ask why) deleted an
entire disk, called DISE_BACKUP (D). It contained four files, and one
directory, which had only one large file in it. I was able to recover
the four tiny files, all of which are named ffastun (with different
extensions), but the directory was so large that it was completely
deleted, rather than going into the recycle bin.

I have been worried that my computer wouldn't re-boot, and my fears
were justified when I tried. I was prompted to start with a CD-ROM,
which I used and was successful. However, the system will no longer
re-boot by itself.

I have a recovery disk, which allows me to update my system without
destroying my files, but I don't know where to get my "Product Key"
which is necessary.

Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks

Did you name that drive or did the OEM name it? I can think of no reason
why removing a folder from a backup drive should cause any problems. :(

The OEM should have slapped a label with the product key onto your PC.
Usually on the bottom of laptops. On desktops, have seen it anywhere on
outside and occasionally on the inside of the tower. It's possible it may
be noted in the system's documentation as well. If not found, contact the
OEM.
