The final step to getting my wireless home network to
share files was to logon to each machine with the
Administrator account. My problem is that on my w2k
machine I've been using a different account for ~3 years
and everything is all setup. When I logon as
Administrator I don't have the settings, etc. Is there a
way I can easily make Administrator act like my other
account?

Why don't you just add the account you have been using to the
administrator's group?
The other option would be to copy the profile and overwrite the
administrator profile. A safer way would be to create another account with
admin access and then copy your profile over to that new account.
Right-click My Computer >> Properties >> User Profiles tab. Click on your
profile, then click the Copy To... button. Browse to the new user's folder
under Documents and Settings, Click OK.

The answer is yes you can, but its a little tricky.

You will have to create a new account that has
administrative priledges. Logon using this new account.
Browse to the C:\documents and settings\YOUR OLD ACCOUNT
NAME\ and copy the NTUSER.DAT file (This file is a hidden
file and you may need to enable "Show hidden files" from
the view|options menu.) Copy this file to the
C:\documents and settings\Administrator folder, make sure
to overwrite the Administrators NTUSER.DAT file. Log off
then log on with the administrator account, and you old
profile should be loaded. If you get an access violation
on coping/writing to the NTUSER.DAT file, you will have to
reboot the computer. This will free up the file and allow
you to copy, if you logon with the newly created account
with admin privlidges.

Thanks, DJ and Serverguy.

I've since found that by fixing some other problems I
actually don't need to logon as Administrator on w2000 to
access files on XP. I am now getting prompted for
name/password by XP on the first attempt after logon.
I'll just stick with this as long as it keeps working but
if it doesn't then I'll use your advice.
