I created several accounts on my Vista machine. I went to a folder I want to
control access to. I selected properties and choose the security tab. The
top box in the tab is labled Group or user names. None of the accounts I
created show up in the list.
Why would that be?
Thanks,
Charles

Charles,
That initial tab shows accounts that have some access permissions on that
folder. If the account currently does not have any access rights to that
folder it will not show. You can add an account with the advanced button and
give that account necessary permissions..

Be aware that you can really hose up your system mucking around with
security, almost as good as screwing up the registry.

The file or folder in question may have been created before the new user came
around. If the account that you want to grant or deny access to is not on the
list, look at it's account type and the user will have the same rights as
'Administrators' or 'Users' do. If these aren't on the list, edit it and
simply create priviledges for the user. If it won't let you do that, you've
got another problem. Tell me if you need help with this.

Note: Some system files are protected by Windows and User Account Control
and permissions cannot be set or edited on them.
