accounts and scanning for malware

If I run Spybot S&D or Ad-Aware, does it scan my whole system or just the
account that I'm logged into at the time? Maybe I need to be in an admin
account to ensure that all accounts (both limited and admin) are scanned, or
does each account have to be scanned individually regardless of whether it's
admin or limited?

Same question applies re Avast AV scanning - though with that I guess that a
scan initiated from any account would be of the whole system?

Grateful for advice. Am on XP Home SP2, by the way. Thanks for any help.

Ad-aware will scan all user accounts by default. Spybot should be run in
each user account. Antivirus software scans the entire system.
