Account problems

Ok when i made a new account i put it as a standard user and when i went to
that user to set it up i was just a blue screen and i could see the mouse and
move it around and when i hit ctrl-alt-delete the little list would come up
and when it clicked on task manager it would come up and nothing was running
in the applications so i clicked on new task and typed in winver because that
is the only task i can remember and it came up any you could see the
information or the computer. so i logged off the user and went back to my
account (wich it the admin) and set the new user as an administrator and then
i logged back on to the account and the screen came up and you could do
everything. I thought it was a one time thing so i went back and put it back
on standard and tried it again and the same thing happend. i have tried it
atleast five times but nothing has happend. i do not know what to do but
leave it on administrator but i dont want that account on admin.
 
Instead of running "winver", try running "explorer". What happens?

(Explorer is the program that is supposed to draw all the desktop icons and
start menu).
 
I've got the same exact problem. I thought adding a new user account was
easy, I've done everything that Gadget has and all I have is a blue screen.
 
KevenMC and gadget, this sounds like a very strange problem, and I don't have
any more ideas. If nobody else on this newsgroup can figure it out, you
might want to contact tech support for your computer.
 
May I offer you a possible solution. I learned it from Shawn aka Brink who
provides many usefull tutorials. You can look him up at vistax64.com . Back
to the subject matter, call up the REAL BUILT-IN ADMINISTRATOR to do the job
for you. Sorry to bruise your ego, you are not the real admin., that one is.
Here is how to : --
1. Start menu > type cmd on the Search box
2. Right click on the cmd program at the top of the panel > click Run As
Admin > click Continue
3. a black & white window appears. Type net_user_administrator_/active:yes
( note the " _ " represents space between words )
4. the screen will tell you if your request is successful or not. If not
re-type and watch for spacing.
5. if yes, close the b/w window, Logoff.
6. the screen will show an Administrator acct. next to yours and other user
acct.( if any ).
7. click on that admin.acct. and the system will start setting up the
desktop for the new acct. When done you can use it to do the job you
couldn't before.
8. Make sure you create a password for it because it can do almost
everything.
9 Should you decide to remove it afterwards, repeat step 1 to 5, Except on
step 3 type active:no instead of active:yes
