Due to a corrupted file my PC ws no longer booting up.
Tried using repair option with the XP install disk to no
effect. Finally had to reload XP. Install prompted me
to create new account names. Now when the PC boots up I
log in with new user name and I can see my old folder in
the Documents and Settings folder but can not access it.
This previous account was password protected. I tried
right clicking and going into properties but I get no
options in entering a password. This old account does
not show up on the User Accounts list. How can I get
access to this folder? All my documents are in there.
Thanks for any help.

You can simply take Ownership of the files in C:\Documents and Settings\<old
account> and then copy the contents of that profile to the new profile you
created during the reinstall. Once this is accomplished, you can delete the
files for the old accounts. These 2 articles will guide you. Read both
completely before starting.
