A firewall message came up and asked about blocking communication with
internet explorer. It was answer with the option of block. It apparently
disabled access to the web from internet explorer. All other access to the
web still works. I have tried disabling the firewall and still can not
access the web from internet explorer. Is there any other place where access
can be disabled that I can go in and change it back so that it can access the
web. I am running windows xp home edition (sp2) with Internet explorer
version 6.

Control Panel | Security Center
Scroll down to Windows Firewall near at the bottom. Click it and on the
Exceptions tab place a checkmark for Internet Explorer.
