I mistakenly deleted wininet.dll from the "Known DLLs" in the registry, while
trying to remove spyware. Anyone know how to fix that. Don't want to use
system restore as I'll likely have to start from scratch to remove the
spyware - already spent hours & hours doing that.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What exactly was deleted?

I only deleted the item from the registry in known dlls at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SessionManager\KnownDLLs

the file itself is still where it belongs, though Norton warns that it
continues to be infected. Right now, I'm afraid to reboot, because
wininet.dll is missing from that list. Is there a way to add it back in
manually?

Thanks

You really only need to be concerned with entries in CurrentControlSet

If you like you can copy the Reg_Sz string value and data from;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\KnownDLLs
to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\KnownDLLs

Here's more infor on this key.
