I changed the default program to open MPQ files to Notepad
on accident, and now all the settings on my computer are
messed up. What is the default setting for MPQ files?
How to I get it back?

Hi Jeff,

There is no default association for .MPQ files (unregistered filetype by
default).

File Extension Details for .MPQ:
http://www.filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=mpq

Microsoft Application Search:
http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?Ext=mpq

To reset the .MPQ association to default, use the Registry Editor (or the
File Types dialog in Folder options)

Backup and remove this registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.MPQ
-and-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.MPQ

How do I backup registry keys? And if I remove those keys, will anything
have to be replaced?

Use the File > Export option in the registry. After deleting the keys,
Windows will show the open-with programs dialog if you double-click the MPQ
file (Coz, it does n't know which app it's associated with)
