Normally when I righclick on my hard disk, the "Open"
selection is bold and at the top of the list. A software
install somehow changed that to "Autoplay" (still bold)
as though it thought my hard disk was a removable drive.
Now, whenever I click on the hard disk, it tries to find
a program to autoplay. How do I change the "Autoplay"
selection back into "Open?" There is no autoplay tab
when I go to properties, but since it's a hard disk I
didn't expect to see such a tab. TIA.

Right-click the drive, choose open. Look for a file named autorun.inf. Delete it and restart Windows.
