Well, I was trying to set up passwords in order to
safeguard my CPU from my children. I think it was safer
in their hands! I accidentally deleted a user (me) and
have lost access to all my financial data as well as
organizational data. Is there anyway I can either reclaim
my former user status or create a new user and assign the
previous settings to this user (or to the administrator
settings. I would really appreciate any insight on this
self-imposed dilemna. Thanks.

Tad,

There is no way to recreate the same user.... However you can create a new
user and take ownership of all the files in c:\documents and
settings\deleted_user_name\ then you may be able to access the data...
When you create the new user, you can add them to the local administrators
group if needed. start -> run -> lusrmgr.msc. If you need more help, post
to the group.
