accidental deletion of user account

Dear Guru,

Is there any way to restore a deleted user account?
I thought I was only removing the name on this particular
account and suddenly realized that it was deleting all
the files related to that account. I cancelled the
operation in hopes that it would revert to the previous
state. No such luck.

Please tell me there is hope.
