I have a LAN at home, with two 98 boxes and one XP Home
computer.

I have an XP Pro laptop at work. I bring it home and
connect it to my home LAN, and without touching any
settings, I can explore the files in the shared folders
on the 98 boxes, no problem. But, as soon as I try to
explore a shared folder on the XP Home box, the XP Pro
fails and explorer just hangs.

In windows explorer, I type in \\192.168.0.1 for the XP
Home computer and I can see the shared folders, but as
soon as I try to explore one of them... it just hangs.

Can anyone help me, with what I'm sure is a simple issue,
but after 5 hours, I'm stumped !

Thanks

Katja

Is the XP Home machine running a firewall?

Can the 09 machines browse the XP Home machine?

Is the XP Pro machine joined to a domain?
