Hi, my computer is part of a Microsoft Workgroup in my
building's network. When I plug in my computer's
ethernet cable directly into the jack, I can access this
workgroup (as well as see other Workgroups on the
Network). However, when I place a router between my
computer and the jack, I can no longer see the other
computers in my Workgroup, just mine. What happened?

Is there a way to set up my router to pass through
information back and forth my computer so it acts as if
it was directly connected to the wall?

Is your PC set for DHCP? If so then you need to turn off the DCHP on the
router (which is on by default). If not then find that IP address on your
PC (ipconfig /all at the cmd prompt) and replicate that information to the
router. Look for assigning IP address to router in help section. Change
your PC to DHCP.

Yes, my computer is set to DHCP, and my router's WAN IP
is set to static, with the same IP , subnet mask,
Gateway, and DNS addresses as my computer.
