Good day all.

I have IIS 5.1 installed and hosting a web service on a desktop PC Windows
XP Professional. I can access the Web Service via Internet Explorer on this
machine using "http://apollo/WICWebSErvice/Sync.asmx"

I cannot access the Web Service from any of my other PC's on my home
network, nor can I access it via the web browser on my PPC2003 device.
Thus, I am not able to call the Web Service via my Mobile Application.

I am farily certain it is something to do with IIS or my router but I cannot
find anything to help. I can reproduce this behavior on another machine in
my office.

Any thoughts or help getting my web services "published" so other machines
can access it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
-> Jason

Can you reach it from another machine hooked to the same hub/switch as the
server? That would rule out a routing problem and put it as a firewall or
settings issue. Are you running firewall SW on the server?

Hi Jason,

Are you able to substitute the machine's IP address for hostname in the
URL that you gave and access it? If so, it sounds like a DNS issue.

Thank you veru much for the feedback. I could not reach it from another
machine hooked to the same router. It was definatly a fireswall settings
issue related to Windows Firewall. I had to configure port 80, or something
along those lines.

Once I had jerry rigged Windows Firewall, all other machines including my
Windows Pocket Pc could access the web service. Cheers and many thanks for
the help.
