Hi,

I've just upgraded to Outlook 2003, and was looking to view newsgroups via the news reader.

Having worked out that you have to add it to the *Go* menu on the standard toolbar, I seem to have lost it.

I managed to open the newsreader once, but after closing it, *news* hasn't stuck to the *go* menu, and it no longer appears in the customize toolbars box....

Any ideas as to where I can find it to add it to the *Go* menu permanently?

Cheers,
Iain

You'll need to set Outlook Express for your newsgroup program in Control
Panel- Internet Options

You have to make OE the default Newsreader. Doing this brings back the News
command in the "Go" menu in Outlook. You can use this as long as you say no
to making Outlook the default reader. This is a bug which Microsoft are
working on.
Hope this helps

Cheers for that - the first time I did it I clicked *yes* when prompted if I wanted to make it the default reader (seemed a reasonable assumption!). by trial and error I sussed it stuck by seleting *no* instead. oh well - works now.

A bug? As far as I know, Outlook has NEVER had native newsreader
capabilities. You have always had to use either Outlook Express or another
newsreader to read news from within Outlook.

I assure you, fixing a "bug" won't change this at all.
