I am attempting to hook up a 98 computer with a 2000
server. I have shared the C: drive and the printer. But
when I attempt to access the server from the 98, it asks
for a password. I have tried using the administrator's
password and that doesn't work. I also created a user on
the 2000 and attempted to log in with it, and still asks
for the password. I disabled the password requirement
under the "users" in the control panel, and still requires
a password. I am out of ideas....any help??

Thanks,

Jim

Go into network properties on the win98 machine and make sure under Logon is
set to Microsoft Client.
When you try to connect to the w2k server and it asks you to logon use the
Administrator user account and then enter a password.
If you get a unable to logon, goto the w2k server in Local Security Policy
in the Administrators tools under user rights make sure the Administrator
account has the right to logon over the network.
