I set up a raid setup and is now my main boot disk of G: running XP. But I
still have my old C: drive with my original XP on it as the original c:
drive but I want to format it
and remove it from this same computer. I booted into "safe mode" and changed
the security permissions on the drive and rebooted. I then went to "Disk
Managment" to see if I could format or fdisk the drive and those options were
not available on that drive (dimmed). How do I wipe out this old drive to use
elsewhere?

Possibly the operating system sees that as a system drive for some reason
and does not allow to do what you want. If you have an old bootable floppy
from Windows 98 or such that has fdisk on it you could try using it being
extremely careful in choosing the drive to format/partition. If you are 100
percent sure that you do not need that drive any more to boot your computer
or for anything else what you could do is to disable your raid controller or
remove the cable from the controller and then hook up just the old drive to
it. Then boot from the install disk like you are going to install the OS and
go through the motions to where you are asked to format/partition the drive.
Then you can manage and format partitions. When the formatting is done
reboot the computer and you should be good to go.
