Since installing WinXP I've had problems accessing other Newsgroups, namely
those that Adelphia.net offers. When trying to Subscribe I'm asked for a
Username and Password. That never happened under Win98.

(Sorry to ask here but I asked Adelphia to help and they claim I'm not a
user, yet they send me a bill every month.)

Thanks for any help here...

Most ISP's like Adelphia do require you to enter a username and password for
newsgroup access. It did happen under Win98; you just don't remember or
someone else set it up for you. Go to Adelphia's website and look for their
NNTP server settings.

Sounds like you've had experience with them, Malke. Thanks, I'll check on
their website and hopefully a human being won't interceede and say I'm not
me. ;-)

BTW, when I was using Win98 I had a dialup and used another server.

I'm still having problems with subscribing. I found the NNTP on their web
page but now it's asking for my Username and Password, but won't accept the
same values that I use to Logon. Can anyone suggest what to do now?
Again, I've called them on this matter but they insist I'm not a subscriber.

Then I suggest that you look at www.individual.net - a lot of regulars here
use it. It costs you 10 Euros a year and doesn't carry all the nasty binary
groups ;-) but is very reliable.

Looks interesting, I'll check into it. Thanks. :-)
