I am running xp pro and recently I have noticed that I am
no longer able to access notepad when I go to
start>programs>accessories. In the past my computer
showed wordpad and also notepad listed under
accessories. Now I am only showing wordpad.
This is really creating a problem for me since I use
notepad regularly to edit my html.

Is there any way of getting notepad to show up again
under accessories? Any help would be appreciated.

Open Windows Explorer to the ..\Windows\System32\ folder. Locate the
notepad.exe file. Right click on it and select Send to Desktop [as
shortcut].
--Or--
Right click the desktop and select New> Shortcut. Enter:
%SystemRoot%\system32\notepad.exe
as the location of the item. Click Next and type in a name for your new
notepad shortcut.

After creating your shortcut, drag it to the Start menu and drop it into
the Accessories folder.

Thank You so much, Sharon. I followed your directions
and it worked like a charm. I am so happy to finally get
my notepad back in the startup. : ) Now, I know what
to do if I ever run in to this problem again.
