Hi:

We run a small workgroup in our office, 2 cpu's have
Windows 2000 and 1 has XP Home edition. The issue is for
some reason (I re-built one of the win 2K's), I am unable
to map to a network drive, however I am able to access the
network drive though the "My Network Places". Though now,
I am required to logged into the drive everytime I try to
access it. I am wondering if there is a short cut to be
able to map to the drive and to save or eliminate the need
to log into the drive everytime we try to access it
remotely.

Thanks
Mark

Since you're logging on to individual machines and not
domains, more than likely the account you use to log into
your machine does not exist or has a different password on
the machine you are attempting to map the drive too. This
is why you are asked to provide a password each time.
Create a user account with the exact logon credentials,
i.e. username and passowrd, on the machine with the share
you wish to map. When you attempt to map again your
credentials will automatically be provided across the
network and you will be logged on. Good luck.
