I am operating a small Microsoft network of 2 computers both using Windows XP
SP2. Each computer is a member ofthe same workgroup. I am attempting to do a
late night backup from one to the other that continuily fails. I get an
error message that the destination drive is not available. If I attempt to
run the backup manually, it fails also but if I manually open the destination
drive with explorer, which I can, then attempt the backup it works fine. Any
ideas on what is going on or how to correct it???

I can't say that I have tried that myself but if you do not have one already
map a drive to the other computer and set it to be persistent. If you do
have a mapped drive then possibly the user account that the backup is
running under [Sheduled Task credentials??] does not have permissions to the
mapped drive. I am assuming here that you are using XP Pro with simple file
sharing disabled and user accounts on each computer to authenticate to for
share access as XP Home may have other complications since it can only use
simple file sharing. Try checking the security log on the computer with the
remote share to see if any logon failures occur at the time the backup
fails.
