I don't seem to be able to access sites that I am [I think] re-directed to on my winXP Pro PC.
I have three PCs, one a desktop running WIN/98SE (AVG virus checker), one laptop running WIN/2K (McAfee VirusScan v4.5.1 SP1), and another desktop running WIN/XP Pro (Norton AV 9.05.15) and all are running IE6.0. All are connected to my home network and share the same DSL modem.
I was on the XP machine trying to look up the correct cartridge for my hp printer. I was able to follow all of the links just fine until I eventually reached a page...
http://search.hp.com/gwuseng/query....+Supplies+&+Accessories&la=en&qp=url:supplies
....that provided a link to my specific model's supplies. I noticed that when clicking on the link pointing to the OfficeJet g95 supplies...
http://search.hp.com/gwuseng/redire...stination.cgi&qt=officejet+g95&pos=1&type=REG
....that I would get "This page cannot be displayed - Cannot find server or DNS Error" each time.
I turned off the virus software and set security and privacy settings in IE to their lowest values with no change in result. I then tried browsing the same paths from the other two machines and they both worked just fine.
I have compared all of the settings in ie on all three machines and they are identical.
Anyone have any idea whyIE on the XP machine seems not to handle this link?
