I used the history files to "spy" on my teens use of the
interent, cannot find it in XP as easily as '98, How do
I access the history file to check on my kids use of the
interenet. So far all I have figured out what to do is
clear the list, but not view it

I'm glad my parents were ethical and not like you. Didn't mean they didn't find stuff but it was incidental to something else (like mum cleaning my room, throwing out rotten food I had hidden).

Gen, Please ignore this answer. We all know that it is not you spying
on the teens, rather than the teens be able to spy on you.
They will know by now, that the History file is actually a hidden file in
XP, under:
C:/Documents & Settings/<username>/Local Settings/History;
where <username> is the XP loginname.

Every user in XP has his/hers own History directory.

Happy "spying".

Have you asked your kids to stay away from sites you feel are questionable?
The history can be cleared with no problem at all. I'm sure your kids know
all the tricks about covering their tracks. Try making a deal with them to
steer clear of the "bad stuff" in exchange for access to the computer. If
you both give your word to agree to this deal I think you would find you get
better results than resorting to "spying". Try it out.
