Ok, now I can view the Security tab. What am I looking
for in there? What should I change?

If you're running XP Home, you need to boot into safe
mode to see the security tab.
Keith
message I can't find a "Use file sharing" option in the View
tab
under Advanced Settings. The closest thing to that I
see
is "Display simple view in Explorer's Folder list,"
but
unchecking that doesn't do anything.
-----Original Message-----
To display the Security tab
1.. Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
a.. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
b.. Double-click Folder Options.
2.. On the View tab, under Advanced settings, clear
Use simple file sharing [Recommended].

When I view the properties there is a Sharing tab,
which
I assume is the same as the Security tab you
mentioned
(because none of the folders have a Security tab),
and
the only option it has is "Make this folder
private,"
but
it's not selectable for some reason.
And there is no Advanced button in the Sharing tab.
There's one under the General tab, but it doesn't
contain
anything that looks useful.

When you view the properties, what does the
security
tab
say? When you click the 'Advanced' button on the
security tab, then select the 'Owner' tab, what
does
it
say?

Darn! None of that stuff seems to have worked.
My computer had to have some kind of recovery
done
on
it,
beause some driver was disabled, and when it was
working
again the user names were gone. Does this mean
the
folder is definitely gone or is there still some
way
to
access it? And also, when I go to Properties of
the
folder it says it is 0 bytes. I don't know if
this
is
because nothing is in it anymore, or because
it's
hidden.
-----Original Message-----
Is there any way to access a hidden folder? I
made
a
folder that could only be accessed by one user
name,
but
that user name has been deleted, and the stuff
in
the
folder is important to me.
How can I access or unhide the folder?
