Accessing Day of Week message was sent

I've noticed that in some email clients the day of the week is at the front
of their "Sent On" date. For instance, mail sent to me today will have
"Date: Sat 01/24/04" at the start. Is the day of the week included
somewhere within mail messages or would I have to write code to look up the
SentOn dates myself?
 
Outlook stores the actual date. If you want to know what the day of the week
is, you have to calculate it.
