Help! We have new IBM computer with windows XP.
Installed an old Managing Your Money DOS program which my
husband needs just for his card files. The computer will
not open the program. His card file contains a heap of
info which he says would take days to duplicate in
outlook. Can someone provide detailed info on how to
make his old program work? He's really being hard-headed
about changing to an updated format. IBM rep says it
can't be done on XP and I can't find a warm body at
Microsoft, online or by phone, to just answer the
question without wanting to charge us. Can Windows XP
open an old DOS file? We're not too computer savvy so if
you think it can be done, please provide instruction.
Thanks a bunch! (I'm grinding my teeth to nubs with
frustration!)

Hi,

Some DOS programs will work, some will not. This is how it is. Check that
the program needs no environmental variables, and try installing and running
it in compatibility mode (programs/accessories/ program compatibility
wizard). If it doesn't work, then he will have to grow technologically -
doesn't still drive his '57 Chevy to work everyday does he?
